The hypothalamus is part of the central nervous system. Located right at the center of the brain, the gland is the key of homeostasis and parasympatic functions such as respiratory functions, body temperature, food and water consumption and gastro-intestinal stimulation. The pituitary gland commands the diffusion of growth hormones and sexual glands. The surrenals produce sterols such as adrenalin, epinephrin and cortisol. Those hormones regulates the effects of inflammation as well as pain perception, fatigue and mental vigilance.
